What seems to be a ceaseless war in Eritrea has made it especially difficult to recognize and award those who have displayed a relentless passion and desire for excellence and success. Many Eritreans have fled the country in search of safety and opportunity, and unfortunately have suffered from lack of education and essential knowledge to excel as individuals. This only weakens and deteriorates our society as a whole.
This is where the AWATE AWARD reveals its value as a vehicle to motivate and encourage our youth to seek boundless knowledge and be awarded for their persistence, dedication, and desire to better their communities. This, in itself, will generate a strong sense of hope for our youth and remind them that there are people here willing to help them along their journey to success and that quitting is never an option.
Not only will the AWATE AWARD recognize the youth, it will also bring light to lifetime achievers and great society contributors, which will open the eyes of many to learn, get involved, and continue to help improve and grow their communities.
In essence, the AWATE AWARD represents bravery, perseverance, selflessness, and determination no matter the obstacles thrown your way. Be prideful and proud about who you are inside and out. Be honored of your culture’s history and never forget the values instilled in you.
Each of us start off as a rough and unique diamond. Accomplishing goals, getting through times of adversity that strengthen us, and enjoying the process of becoming successful polishes the diamond, which makes us shine brighter.
